Pipedrive vs Streak: a real CRM, or a CRM inside your inbox
These two are often shortlisted together because both serve small sales teams, and they are not really competitors. Pipedrive is a standalone CRM — a destination you go to, with its own pipeline discipline. Streak is a CRM layer inside Gmail — pipelines, stages and reminders that live in the inbox you already have open. The choice is less about features than about whether your team will ever open a second tab.
Short version
- Choose Pipedrive if selling is a defined process with stages, forecasts and more than one person touching a deal, and if you want reporting that survives a team change.
- Choose Streak if you live in Gmail, your deals start as email threads, and the realistic failure mode of a CRM at your company is "nobody logged in after week two."
- Choose neither if you need marketing automation or ticketing in the same system — both are sales tools, not suites.
What each costs (annual billing, per seat)
| Tier | Pipedrive | Streak |
|---|---|---|
| Free | None — 14-day trial only | Yes, but no pipelines |
| Entry | Lite €14/seat/mo | Pro $49/seat/mo |
| Mid | Growth €39 · Premium €59 | Pro+ $69/seat/mo |
| Top | Ultimate €79 | Enterprise $129/seat/mo |
| Add-ons | LeadBooster €32.50 · Campaigns €13.33 · Projects €16 · Web Visitors €41 · Smart Docs €32.50 | Sold as tiers, fewer add-ons |
| Currency | Priced in EUR | Priced in USD |
Two structural differences jump out. Pipedrive has no free plan and prices in euros, so currency movement is a real budgeting factor for a US buyer. Streak's free plan exists but withholds pipelines entirely — which is the one feature that makes it a CRM rather than a mail-merge tool. Full breakdowns: Pipedrive pricing and Streak pricing.
The detail that decides it for most teams
Streak's whole-team tiering rule matters more than the price list: everyone in the team must sit on the same plan. You cannot put one heavy user on Pro+ and give three colleagues Pro. A four-person team on Pro+ is $276/month, not $69 plus change. That flat, uniform structure is simple to budget and unforgiving if one person needs the top tier.
Pipedrive is the opposite: seats are individually priced, tiers can mix, and you can start four people on Growth and give the sales lead Premium. The trade-off is that Pipedrive's useful features are spread across tiers and add-ons — LeadBooster at €32.50/month is nearly double the Lite seat price, and it is the add-on most teams end up wanting.
Where Pipedrive wins
- Pipeline discipline as a product. Stage-based forecasting, rotting-deal warnings, activity-based selling. The interface is opinionated about process, which is what a CRM is for.
- Reporting that a manager can use. Conversion by stage, revenue forecasts, team performance. Streak's reporting is thinner at every tier.
- It survives staff turnover. When the person who "kept everything in their inbox" leaves, the pipeline is still in the CRM. With an inbox-native tool, the risk is structural, not incidental.
- Ecosystem and integrations. A large marketplace, and a company whose entire business is the CRM — not one feature of a larger email product.
Where Streak wins
- Zero behaviour change. Deals are created from threads you are already reading. No data entry ritual, no second login. For a founder doing sales between other work, this is the difference between adoption and abandonment.
- Email-centric deal flow. If your sales cycle is literally "send email, wait, follow up," a thread IS the deal record. Modeling that in a conventional CRM is friction with no payoff.
- Team visibility without setup. Shared pipelines on threads give a small team a view of who is talking to whom, in minutes rather than a migration project.
- Price at small teams of light users. Three people on Streak Pro is $147/month. Three on Pipedrive Growth is around €117 — cheaper in nominal terms, but only if all three will actually use it.
Where both are weak
- Marketing. Neither sends nurture campaigns worth building a strategy on. Streak's mail merge is a feature; Pipedrive's Campaigns add-on is €13.33/month and basic.
- Complex products. Multi-product quotes, approval chains and CPQ belong to enterprise CRMs. Both tools are for straightforward deal shapes.
- Free tiers you can run on. Pipedrive offers none. Streak's free plan without pipelines does not count as a CRM.
A decision rule that holds up
Ask what a deal looks like at your company.
- "A thread with a client, plus a follow-up reminder." Streak. Buying Pipedrive means buying process you do not have.
- "Six stages, two decision-makers, a proposal and a signature." Pipedrive. Streak will bend, and you will feel it around deal twenty.
- "We tried a CRM twice and nobody used it." Streak, then revisit in a year. A CRM nobody opens has a worse ROI than no CRM.
What we cannot verify
Prices and plan limits above come from both vendors' pricing pages, verified October 23, 2026, and we re-check quarterly. Pipedrive's figures are in euros and Streak's in US dollars as displayed; we have not normalized them for exchange rate or regional pricing differences. Our hands-on testing cycle is in progress — we have not yet run a live pipeline on both side by side, so we cannot report measured setup time, actual Gmail sync reliability for Streak, or support responsiveness. Those findings will be added when the testing window closes, per our How We Test process.
