beehiiv pricing explained (2026): the newsletter platform's real tiers and caps
beehiiv positions itself as the growth-focused newsletter platform — recommendations network, ad marketplace, paid subscriptions with a 0% take rate. The pricing looks simple until subscriber caps, seat limits, and the analytics lookback window enter. Here is the full structure.
The four plans (verified October 23, 2026; prices shown for a 1,000-subscriber list, annual billing)
- Free — $0, up to 2,500 subscribers. Unlimited email sends, landing pages, email templates, recommendation network, API and integrations. 1 team seat, 1 publication, 30-day analytics lookback.
- Lite — $49/mo annual, up to 100,000 subscribers. Adds paid subscriptions with a 0% take rate, ad monetization, automations, A/B testing, audience polls. 2 seats, 3 publications, 12-month analytics.
- Pro — $95/mo annual, up to 250,000 subscribers. Adds removed beehiiv branding, webinars and coaching products, advanced analytics, AI credits, webhooks, dynamic content, 24/7 priority support. 10 seats, unlimited guest authors.
- Enterprise — custom. SSO/SAML, dedicated IPs, concierge onboarding, custom limits.
Prices scale with subscriber count — $49/$95 are the floor at 1,000 subscribers. The caps are the real story: Lite's 100,000-subscriber ceiling and Pro's 250,000 decide when you are forced to upgrade or move.
The two details worth pausing on
- 0% take rate on paid subscriptions (Lite and up). On Substack you surrender 10% of paid-newsletter revenue. On beehiiv Lite, the platform takes nothing beyond payment processing. For a paid newsletter at $10/month with 500 subscribers, that difference is roughly $500/month — often the single biggest line in the platform comparison.
- The free plan's 2,500 cap and 30-day analytics. Substack has no cap; beehiiv's free tier does. And 30 days of analytics history means the free tier is for starting out, not for operating a data-driven publication.
Which plan actually makes sense
- Free to launch and validate. 2,500 subscribers is a serious runway — most newsletters take a year or more to get there.
- Lite ($49) when you switch on paid subscriptions or automations. This is the operating tier for most professional newsletters, and the 0% take rate usually pays for it before 500 paying subscribers.
- Pro ($95) for growth-stage publications: unbranded pages matter for sponsors, AI credits and webhooks matter for operations, and 10 seats fit a real team.
- Enterprise for media companies with security and scale needs. Irrelevant below ~100,000 subscribers.
Who should not choose beehiiv
- Creators selling many digital products beyond paid subscriptions. beehiiv's commerce is newsletter-shaped; Kit's commerce suite is deeper (our beehiiv vs Kit comparison is coming).
- Teams needing marketing automation beyond newsletters. Lifecycle campaigns across products are not beehiiv's core. A marketing platform fits better.
- Anyone at 250,000+ subscribers without enterprise budget. You will hit Pro's ceiling; plan the migration before it becomes urgent.
